Fire Protection Engineer

Fire Protection Engineer
Primary focus will be to develop fire protection system philosophy documents and plans, fire protection P&ID’s, fire and gas logic diagrams, fire and gas cause & effect charts, assist in electrical hazardous area classifications, fire hazardous location plans, and safety escape route plans. Provide support for Instrumentation and Controls in completing the detail design of the fire and gas detection systems. Provide support for S.A.F.E. charts and HAZOP reviews as required. Develop equipment general arrangements for fire and gas detection systems, fusible loop systems, and life safety/fire fighting equipment. Experienced in developing specifications and evaluating quotations for fire protection systems.
In addition, experience in determining fire water demands, fire pump sizing, fire water main sizing, designed and calculated water spray/deluge systems. Provided support in completing the water spray system installation and isometric drawings detailing the routing and support of the water spray pipe and nozzles. Have experience in using the PDMS 3Dmodel for enhanced detail design of water spray systems.
Experienced in using numerous NFPA standards, state and local building fire codes, Factory Mutual requirements, IRI publications, UL standards, IEEE guides, SOLAS requirements, CFR regulations, and API recommended practices.
Engineering degree or technical degree required, minimum 10 - years experience. Oil and Gas industry experience required, arctic environment experience and NICET certifications a plus. 10% to 25% travel anticipated for first 6-months.
EH&S Specialist for Russian Project Assignment in Russia
Role: Fire Protection Specialist Capital Project:
Under the direction of the EH&S Manager and in coordination with Project Managers
•?Implementation of fire protection philosophies and strategies that have been finalized for the project, and ensure integration of EH&S as a critical component of the overall Program. Fire protection systems is defined as; fire water delivery. foam delivery, fire detection and gas detection.
•?Provide technical oversight with respect to the integration of fire protection requirements into the design criteria of the different plants as required by the project.
•?Drive fire protection design basis through consistent project wide fire and gas requirements that are aligned with Client expectations and requirements and meet applicable regulatory requirements.
•?Oversight of driving agreements in coordination with the client focal point who oversees the fire and gas protection component of the project.
•?Insure alignment of implementation of fire protection design with construction practices in the field.
SCOPE
•?Obtain all fire protection safety related authority approvals for the Project. .
•?Facilitate insurance and finance providers’ fire and gas protection needs of the projects; appropriately manage expectations of the insurers and the financiers of the Project.
•?Lead the integration of the Emergency Response Plan for Operations with the fire and gas response systems for the overall project.
•?In cooperation with the Construction Manager, develop the commissioning and startup of the fire protection systems prior to operations commencement.
•?Define, establish and develop a communication network with the project and client to ensure Fire and Gas Protection system changes and progress are communicated.
•?Have and understanding of the Russian regulatory framework and how to interpret the requirements.
•?Ensure that that management of change (MOC) procedures are coordinated with the home engineering offices for design changes that generate from the field.
